14U Pitcher hits 82 MPH

Connor Mattison- AZ Avengers

Connor Mattison is a pitcher, infielder and outfielder for the Arizona Avengers 14U travel baseball team. He loves playing baseball and aspires to be a Major League Baseball player for his favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he is older. He wants to pitch for the Dodgers just like his favorite player Clayton Kershaw. Pitching is his biggest strength as he hit 82 miles per hour on the radar gun in the semi-final of the Baseball Showcase Road to the Show tournament which has led to interest from MLB scouts.

“I just put in a lot of work,” Mattison said. “You don’t throw 80 miles an hour overnight. It takes a lot of work and I’ve been putting in that work since I was four-years-old.”

Off the field Connor loves playing the video game Fortnite and has had a 16 kill game. He is also highly involved in his church, Refinery Christian Church. He volunteers with four and five-year-olds and teenagers going through a rough time. He currently does school online but will transition to Canyon View High School next year to play baseball.
